Majestic Commercial, our On-Trade division of Majestic Wine, are recruiting a Key Account Manager to cover regions across the UK

 

The Role:

Reporting into the Head of Key Accounts the Key Account Manager role will involve working with Commercial's largest and most high profile customers. They are also Commercials most demanding and complex accounts, requiring a sophisticated, tailored approach to account management. The challenge is both to ensure that they run like clockwork from an operational point of view, but also to understand their business inside out and work with them as part of a strategic business partnership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Securing and contracting a minimum of £360k worth of New business per annum.

  • Support all key accounts both from menu development, orders supporting on match days if needed, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact. Some weekend and evening work will be involved, and flexibility to work around key client’s events is essential.

  • Maintain a strategic account management approach, understanding the customer’s business inside out, managing expectations effectively, problem-solving and consistently delivering over and above their requirements. At the same time, use your commercial abilities to negotiate win-win solutions for both the customer and Majestic.

  • Manage the smooth running of accounts including accurate statementing and the management of prices, margins and service levels in relation to contractual commitments.

  • A hands on approach to Account Management with clear self ownership.

  • Provide and organise training sessions & educational support to customer teams to optimise the end-consumer experience.

  • Assist the customer in accurate forecasting and stock control to ensure optimum availability during events and with ongoing stock requirements.

  • Proactively identify potential operational issues, advising and troubleshooting as necessary to ensure the best outcome for the customer and Majestic.

  • Complete target criteria for account management, ensuring KPIs are met while consistently presenting Majestic Commercial as a credible, professional and reliable partner.

  • Facilitate relationships between suppliers & accounts through agreed process.

  • Maintain an active sales pipeline with a minimum value of £1 million, reviewed quarterly in collaboration with the Head of Key Accounts. This includes tracking both wins and losses to inform a focused, data-driven strategy aimed at improving conversion rates and overall sales effectiveness.

  • Developing menus with customers that improve cash margin and sales in current account base.

  • Possess a deep understanding of our Key Agency and Priority Partner brands, with a strong focus on driving sales through these partnerships.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of the on-trade is essential.

  • 2+ years of experience in the wine industry

  • WSET Level 2 Qualified. WSET Level 3 or Diploma Level is desirable

  • The successful candidate will be analytical and numerate with good attention to detail.

  • The role requires a motivated self-starter with a proven track record of exceeding targets, the drive to provide best-in-class service and a passion for our products.

  • Strong communication and persuasive skills are essential for this role.

  • You will have strong relationship building skills and be highly articulate and proactive, able to think strategically, deliver complex messages and manage expectations effectively.

  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Word and Excel. Experience with G-suite would also be an advantage.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Proven experience in delivering training sessions

  • Strong knowledge of wine and the wine industry

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and pursue sales opportunities.

  • Passion for providing exceptional customer service
