The Role:

The Group Head of Internal Communications & Engagement is responsible for building and leading a clear, consistent and engaging internal communications strategy across Majestic Wine Retail, Majestic Commercial, Enotria and Vagabond. The role exists to ensure colleagues across the Group understand where the business is going, why it matters, and how their work connects to the Group’s strategy, milestones and values. The role will strengthen engagement, alignment and pride across the businesse units, while respecting their individual identities. The Group Head of Internal Communications & Engagement will work closely with the Group Head of External Communications & PR to ensure a seamless approach to all communications across the Group

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Location: Watford (Hybrid)- Our Head Office is based in Watford, just 20 minutes from London Euston. From Watford Junction, we are a 15-minute walk to our Head Office.

Key Stakeholders: Group CEO; Group People Director; Group Executive and Senior Leadership Teams MDs and Leadership Teams across Majestic Wine Retail, Majestic Commercial, Enotria and Vagabond Investor and Board stakeholders

 

Key Responsibilities

Group Internal Communications Strategy 

  • Own and deliver the Group’s internal communications strategy across Majestic Wine Retail, Majestic Commercial, Enotria and Vagabond.
  • Create a clear narrative that connects Group strategy, priorities and milestones to colleagues at every level.
  • Ensure major business updates, performance milestones and strategic priorities are clearly communicated and celebrated across the Group.

Channels and Platforms

  • Own and evolve the Group’s internal approach to ensure consistent, effective communication and engagement
  • Lead the use and development of Oak as the Group’s internal engagement platform, ensuring it becomes a valuable, well-used hub for colleagues.
  • Establish a clear internal communications calendar and cadence across the year.

Events and Engagement Moments

  • Lead the communications and content strategy for key Group engagement moments, including:

- Managers’ Conferences

- Monthly & Quarterly Business Updates

- Leadership communications and Group-wide events

 

Work with leadership teams to ensure these moments are meaningful, motivating and clearly linked to Group priorities and performance.

 

Culture, Ethos, Mission and Values

  • Ensure the Majestic Wine Group’s culture, ethos, mission and values are clearly and consistently communicated across all business units.
  • Support leaders to bring the Group’s values to life through how strategy, change and performance are communicated internally.
  • Help embed a shared sense of purpose and belonging across distinct brands and operating models.

Leadership, Board and Investor Communications

  • Partner with the Group CEO, Boards and senior leadership teams to support clear communication of Group strategy, plans and progress to colleagues.
  • Support the communication of major change, growth initiatives, integrations and transformation programmes.

Listening, Feedback and Colleague Voice

  • Build structured listening mechanisms across the Group, including listening groups, feedback forums and regular time spent with colleagues across all four businesses.
  • Represent colleague insight and sentiment in senior leadership discussions.
  • Use feedback and engagement insight to continuously improve internal communications and engagement approaches.

 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience

  • Senior experience in internal communications, corporate communications, change communications or engagement roles
  • Proven experience working with senior leadership and boards in complex, multi-business organisations
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on delivery capability
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills
  • Experience building communication rhythms, platforms and engagement programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and building new functions in evolving organisations
  • Strong leadership skills; comfortable working in a matrix environment managing & supporting the comms & events coordinators within the Business Units to deliver.
