ohn first led Majestic as MD of its Retail business between 2015 and 2017. When Fortress Investment Group acquired Majestic in November 2019, John returned as CEO — and his efforts to put the business back on a growth trajectory saw him named Drinks Business Man of the Year in 2021.

John led the transformational acquisitions of Vagabond in April 2024 and Enotria&Coe a year later, expanding and diversifying the business into the retail, wholesale and hospitality group, Majestic Wine Group.

Prior to his time at Majestic, John spent almost two decades in senior roles at DIY giant Kingfisher, including those of Group Chief Trading Officer, Commercial and Marketing Director of B&Q, and Commercial Director of Screwfix. John also spent five years in the Netherlands as CEO of Praxis DIY and executive board member of Maxeda Group.
